Day 1 God's Love for Us

Thank you for joining us on our Seven Day Love Challenge! We are on a mission to love God, love others and love ourselves.

When we talk about love, it's important to know exactly what we mean, In the Greek there are several words used for love:

Eros, which suggests sensual desire—we think about this at Valentines, but it does not appear in the New Testament.

Phileo, which is used for friendship or love of one’s friends - it conveys a sense of loving someone because you like them or have something in common with them.

Agape, which is God’s love: the purest, deepest kind of love—it is expressed not through mere emotions but as an act of one’s will. It describes selfless, unconditional love that seeks the other’s highest good. It is sacrificial. Some have said that love can be measured by how much one is willing to sacrifice. It doesn’t depend on us being loveable.

During this challenge we will be looking at Agape love that God has for us, agape love that Jesus said we should have for ourselves, and that He command that we have for others.

Today we are looking at the love that God has for us as a Father.

See how very much our Father loves us, for He calls us His children, and that is what we are! 1 John 3:1

In love He predestined us to be adopted as His sons through Jesus Christ, in accordance with His pleasure and will… Ephesians 1:5

For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God. For you did not receive a spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry, ‘Abba, Father.’ The Spirit itself bears witness with our spirit, that we are children of God ...  Romans 8:14-17

Today our challenge is to connect with God’s Love the way a child would with a wonderful father.  You may not have had a father or your father may not have been loving. God wants to heal those hurts. Or you may have had a good loving father, but even the best father’s love falls short of God’s love.

Day 1 Challenge: Today we will approach God as our papa or daddy. Find a picture of yourself as a small child. Take five to ten minutes and in your mind, become that child and go to God as that child. Feel your love for Him and His love for you! Do your best to remember HIs love all day today.

Also, we have free affirmation cards available with verses that tell of God's love for us. See the link below.
